Facial ExpressionsFacial expressions are the only expressions in the world which are universal. If you learn how to read them correctly you will be able to read anyone in the world.
THE RIGHT EXPRESSION
DO YOU KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A GENUINE AND A FAKE EMOTION?
Real emotions last from only a few milliseconds to a maximum of 4 seconds. If it lasts longer it might not be a genuine felt emotion. The lasting of real emotions shown on our face are divided into 3 categories: MICRO, MACRO and SUBTLE expressions.
Micro ExpressionsA micro expression is the shortest expression of an emotion. It lasts from 1/25 of a second to 1/2 a second.
Macro ExpressionsThe macro expression is the longest expression of an emotion and lasts from 1/25 of a second to 4 seconds.
PROFESSIONAL TRANING IN FACIAL EXPRESSIONS
A micro expression won't tell you if a person is lying, instead it allows you to understand that a persons emotional state has change - but not why. So if you see incongruence between a persons facial expression and the person behaviour this is called a PIN, or a point of interest. If you see a PIN, depending on the context, you should consider asking more questions to figure out why this sudden change of emotion occur and why this person is trying to hide this feeling.
You should always be aware that some people might not want to share how they feel with you but instead want to keep it private. Then you should respect that.
Here at Wiinberg Frost we train people in different aspects of facial expressions. This include emotions, their state and their lasting, triggers, and why and how they appear. Facial expressions are - unlike body language - universal, which means you will be able to use this training on anyone anywhere.
The face is the clearest way to spot changes in a persons emotional state.
These changes show even when the person is not even aware of it.
